Being moderate: The careful use of resources is firmly anchored in HANNO's corporate mission statement: sustainability is considered a promise to the future.

"We are proud to be shaping a more sustainable future together with our employees, customers and partners," says Günter Krohn, Managing Director of Hanno Werk GmbH & Co. KG.
HANNO invests responsibly in the future
The fact that sustainability is not just a trendy topic at HANNO is already reflected in the company's mission statement: the careful and responsible use of energy and resources is firmly anchored here. In order to realise concrete improvement potentials in operational climate and environmental protection, HANNO has developed a comprehensive environmental management system - and received the eco-certification according to the international environmental management standard ISO 14001:2015 for it. It extends the existing management system, which is characterised by the IATF standard 16949:2016, by the essential module of environment. An award from Ökoprofit (Ecological Project for Integrated Environmental Technology) underlines the commitment to climate protection.
Holistic management - through heat recovery
The profitable use of accruing resources opens up many possibilities to optimise the eco-balance in the company. One example is heat recovery (HR). It uses the thermal energy of the exhaust air in the chimney and feeds it back into the process to a large extent. HANNO uses this system in its main production plants - and this has a positive effect on the eco-balance: The result is reduced greenhouse gas emissions, i.e. a gentle approach to the climate, and lower energy costs.
In general, HANNO pays attention to the energy consumption of equipment when making investments. Emissions can be reduced not only with machines: By switching to green electricity from hydropower and LED lighting, the company saves even more CO2. In addition, the technical centre, which was inaugurated in 2019, is particularly energy-efficient according to the KfW 55 standard. Compared to a conventionally constructed building, it consumes around 45 percent less energy.
Because e-mobility is considered an important component of the energy transition, the Laatzen-based company is also gradually converting its fleet of company cars to electric vehicles in the coming years. "All in all, the sustainable package of measures is worthwhile: HANNO saves significantly more than 1,000 tonnes of CO2 annually," emphasises Managing Director Günter Krohn and announces further steps.
Taking big steps towards climate neutrality
As part of the "New Start Lower Saxony Investments" funding programme, further projects are underway for even more sustainability at HANNO. The company is currently investing in an energy management system that shows additional savings potential. The sealing and insulation specialist wants to implement charging stations for electric vehicles, a photovoltaic system for environmentally friendly solar power and further measures for heat recovery by 2022 - for environmental friendliness all along the line.
